Six Figure Plumbing Equipment Retailer

We embarked on a CRO (Conversion Rate Optimisation) project with the aim of making it much easier for customers to find and buy their desired heating and plumbing products online.
An in-depth audit of the existing ecommerce site identified opportunities to enhance features ranging from the site’s search functionality and menu navigation, to product category segmentation and the checkout process.
Working closely with the retailer’s web development team, we were able to ensure phased improvements to the online experience were made, with their impact on the website’s analytics closely examined along the way.
Results
By the end of 2018, six months after beginning the project, the recommended changes had resulted in many hundreds of thousands of pounds in extra revenue due purely to the changes:
- A 63% year-on-year increase in conversion rate.
- An 81% increase in the number of customer transactions.
- An 89% increase in the average order value
- A 242% increase in revenue

We completed an audit to identify issues with the site, both from a technical and from an on-page optimisation standpoint.
The audit revealed that almost all product and category pages had issues, and we embarked on a months-long project, carrying out keyword research on the 20 major categories, and overseeing the rewriting of several hundred pages.
Results
Despite many technical changes not being able to be implemented due to choices made by decision-makers overseas, this project resulted in:
- A 50% increase in organic traffic
- An increased conversion rate
- A double-digit percentage increase to revenue
